On Thursday July 17 2014 Van Hessen and the Dutch Custom Authorities together signed the “Acknowledged Gas Free Logistical Chain of Natural Casings protocol”.
Van Hessen is the first company with this status in the food industry.
By applying the right procedure in respect of loading containers both at Van Hessen and our suppliers, the chances of gas presence in containers are negligible.
This means Health & Safety risks are eliminated.

The Dutch Customs Authorities intend to use the Van Hessen protocol as an example for other industries.
CEO Elliot Simon has represented Van Hessen B.V. at the State Banquet at the Royal Palace in Amsterdam. The State Banquet was in honor of the visiting Chinese President Xi Jinping.
President Xi Jinping arrived Saturday March 22 in the Netherlands on his first trip to Europe as leader. This is the first time a Chinese President has come to the Netherlands since the two countries established diplomatic relations.
The state visit to the Netherlands included two purposes: to attend the Nuclear Security Summit and to strengthen mutual trust, promote practical cooperation and deepen the friendship between China and the Netherlands.
In discussion with the Chinese president, Elliot Simon put Van Hessen as an example of profound cooperation in the context of the long and good relation between China and The Netherlands.
Also our Queen Maxima was very interested to learn about the business of natural casings and the role of Van Hessen in this particular market.
After the State Banquet, Elliot Simon has said: “what a privilege to represent our company on this unique evening”.
