In order to deliver safe natural casings Van Hessen goes to great lengths. We ensure all operations during cleaning-, selecting- and distribution within the Van Hessen group are in compliance with (inter)national legislation and our own quality standards.
Hazard Analytical Critical Control Points (HACCP)
The European natural sausage casings industry developed a HACCP system based on the Codex Alimentarius, the world standard for Food Safety. Van Hessen was closely involved in developing this HACCP system. In order to guarantee safe natural casings, Van Hessen is implementing this HACCP system in all cleaning-, selecting- and distribution operations within its branches.
International ‘market based’ food safety standards
In order to reflect our own demands and those of the majority of our customers, we are always working on implementation of internationally recognized standards within the Van Hessen group.
Among these standards are Global Standard for Food Safety (BRC), International Food Standard (IFS), Safe Quality Food (SQF) which are in compliance with the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI).
Van Hessen was one of the first processers of natural casings that successfully implemented the BRC and IFS standard in all its selecting and distribution operations.
